Sosem fogjuk megérteni!!!! Mert ezt ép ésszel nem lehet felfogni! Mert hiába minden ismeretterjesztés, minden szemléletformáló óra, minden erőfeszítés, ha Békéscsabán még mindig itt tartunk! Nem tudjuk, hogy lehetne megváltoztatni az emberek gondolkodásmódját Békéscsabán és környékén. Nem tudjuk, hogy lehetne a régi, 100 évvel ezelőtt berögződött, dolgokat felülírni bennük. Nem tudjuk, honnan ez a szívtelenség, hogy a fölösleges kutyákat lelkiismeret-furdalás nélkül dobják ki emberek. Emberek, akik itt élnek közöttünk. Eldobják maguktól azt a lényt, aki őket legjobban szereti. Hisz egy kutya lényének lényege az, hogy az embert szereti. Minden percnek örül, amit vele  tölthet.

 Szóval augusztus 20-án se nagyon unatkoztunk. 2 önkéntesünk éppen kutyát sétáltatott, amikor megállt egy autó a menhelyhez vezető bekötőúton és egyszerűen kihajították az autóból ezt a kutyust! Nyilván el kellett takarítani otthonról. Nem érték, nem megbecsülendő, nem szerethető. Egy eszköz. Egy tárgy. Annyit nem érdemel, hogy kihozzák a menhelyre és elmondják nekünk, miért válnak meg tőle. De nem. Egyszerűbb megállni a menhely bekötőútján, hátrasétálni a csomagtartóhoz és kihajítani a benne lévő szerencsétlent az aszfaltra, sorsára hagyni egy elhagyatott helyen, majd mint aki jól végezte dolgát, elhajtani. Mit számít, mi lesz Vele, hogy hetek múlva félve, rettegve és csontsoványan fogja-e róni az utcákat, vagy holtan, netán maradandó súlyos sérüléssel végzi egy autó kerekei alatt, vagy esetleg éhen hal egy bokor alján? Ez mind nem számít. Csak az, hogy ő levette a felelősséget a válláról.

 Azzal azonban nem számolt, hogy ketten is látták és a rendszámát is sikerült feljegyezniük. A kiérkező rendőröknek minden részletről be tudtak számolni, így azóta azonosították is az elkövetőt és eljárást indítottak ellene. Jó tudni: Az állatelhagyás állatkínzás. Aki gerinces állatát elűzi, elhagyja, kiteszi, az bűncselekményt követ el. Mert itt egy élőlényről van szó, akit te választottál társul valamikor. Most pedig kidobtad Őt. Őt, akiért felelősséggel tartozol!

BERNARD lassan kezdi levetkőzni félelmeit,  de az új helyzetektől még megijed. Ilyenkor összehúzza magát félelmében. Alapvetően azonban nyitott, barátkozós természetű kutyus, aki élvezi ha szeretgetik, simogatják. Már pórázon is megtanult sétálni és kutyatársaival is jó viszonyban van.  Hamarosan felszabadult, kiegyensúlyozott kutyus lesz belőle. Igen, szerencsés. Hisz többszáz társának ezen a vidéken soha nem lesz ebben része.
A macskateszt során ( ami egy cicákkal teli, apró szobában zajlik), azt tapasztaltuk, hogy nem volt érdeklődő a macskák iránt. Mivel mindkét fél megilletődött állapotban volt, így nem feltétlen garantált, hogy máskor, más környezetben teljesen cicabarát lesz. 

BERNARD sajnos szívférges, az örökbefogadónak ez havonta kb. 4.000 Ft kiadást jelent. Csak olyan jelentkezzen gazdinak, aki ezt az áldozatot meg tudja hozni érte!2022.09.07.

We will never understand! Because with a sane mind it is impossible to fathom. All awareness-raising, all educational lessons, all efforts are in vain if still this is the status quo in Békéscsaba! We don’t know how to change the way of thinking of people in this area. We don’t know how to re-programme the old, entrenched ideas in their minds. We don’t know where this callousness comes from that people throw away dogs that are surplus to requirement like trash without a smidgeon of guilty conscience. And these are people who live here among us. And they abandon the very creature that loves them most. Because love for people is the core matter in a dog’s heart. They are happy for every single moment they can spend with you.

So we weren’t bored on 20th August (a public holiday), either. Two of our volunteers were walking dogs around the shelter when a car stopped along the road leading to the shelter and a dog was simply thrown out of the car. Obviously the dog had to be cleared away from home. It has no value, it is not to honour and it it is not to love. It’s a thing. A means to an end. It does not deserve so much as to be be brought to the shelter and tell us why they wish to part with it. But no. It’s much easier to stop along the road leading to the shelter, walk back to the hatchback, throw out the unfortunate soul that was hiding inside onto the tarmac , leave him to fend for himself in a remote area and then, job done, drive away. What does it matter what might happen to the dog, whether in weeks’ time he will be walking the streets being nothing but skin and bone, scared, terrified or end up dead or maybe just  seriously injured under the wheels of a car or maybe starved to death in the bushes? All of this does not matter. What matters is that he, who was respponsible for him, has managed to ditch responsibility.

He did not count with the fact, however, that there were 2 witnesses and even his car’s registration number was noted. They were able to relate every detail of the event to the Police arriving on site, so the perpetrator was identified and a police procedure has started against him. It’s good to know: Abandoning an animal is animal cruelty. One that chases away, abandons, throws away his vertebrates commits a crime. Because it’s a living creature that you have chosen to be your companion some time ago. And now you have thrown him away like trash. Him, whom you are responsible for.

BERNARD is slowly casting off his fears, but he still gets anxious when in a new situation. Then he huddles u pin his fear. Basically, however, he’s an open and friendly chap who enjoys being caressed and stroked. He has mastered walking on the lead now and he gets on well with other dogs as well. Soon he’ll become a level-headed, joyful little dog. Yes, he is lucky. Because hundreds of his counterparts living in this area will never have this opportunity.
During our impromptu cat test (that is conducted in a small room full of cats) he did not show any interest in the felines. However, because both parties were experiencing a new situation it is not fully guaranteed that he will be completely cat-friendly in other situations as well. 

Unfortunately, BERNARD is heartworm positive the treatment of which condition incurs a monthly cost of 4,000 Ft. He's waiting for his loving owner who's willing to provide this for him.07.09.2022
