The year 2020 had a very bad start. We kept being swamped with dogs that actually had an owner. They didn’t come one by one, not in pairs, but in hoardes of 9 and 16 from each irresponsible owner. There was a pack of dogs who had to be ceased by the authorities, there was another pack that was crammed into all our 4 emergency cages at the same time in one evening, in the darkness, and there was a pack that we had to bring in as they had got too many.
This last pack of dogs had 9 members. They were of all ages: babies puppies, youngsters and adults. Who is related to who in the pack is a mystery , but they do look a lot like each other. The names are: Mini, Freya, Frida, Karla, Trudi, Inge, VERENA, Udo and Jürgen.
One of them is VERENA. She was named after our Veruska (our beloved oldie who was recently adopted after several years at the shelter) because he takes after her a lot, only she’s much younger.
VERENA is still anxious and distrustful. She’s an “oh, please, just don’t try to touch me!” – type . She’d rather go and hide in the deepest corner of her wooden dog kennel to avoid close contact with people. She does not know the collar and lead.
She still needs time to become a happy, grateful and kiss-giving lapdog.
She's relocated to Germany. 24.04.2020
